Chain–Of-Thought Reasoning Without Prompting

Researchers at Google DeepMind explored if big AI brains, known as large language models (LLMs), can think through problems step-by-step on their own, without prompts. 

They found something interesting: when the AI looks at different possible answers before deciding, it often figures out problems in a thoughtful way, just like we might work out a math problem. 

This method, which they call "chain-of-thought" (CoT) reasoning, seems to make the AI more sure about its final answer.

This discovery led to a new way of making AI think called "CoT-decoding." This approach helps the AI choose smarter paths to solve problems and does a better job than the usual quick-choice method, especially on tricky reasoning tasks.
