This partnership, revealed by the Financial Times, marks another bold move by Microsoft into the AI arena, following its substantial $10 billion investment in OpenAI just over a year ago. Here is why it's a great deal for Microsoft. Mistral just launched a ChatGPT competitor called āLe Chatā boasting impressive benchmarks that secure its place as the world's second-ranked model available via API.Ā

The News: Google DeepMind made something super cool called 'Genie.' It's like a magic wand for creating video games. You just give it a prompt or an image, and bam, it makes a whole game out of it.Ā
Here's the scoop: Genie learned a lot by watching over 200,000 hours of gaming videos online. It's like it went to video game school but didn't need any homework. And even though it wasn't taught specially how to do it, Genie can figure out who the hero in the game is and lets you control them.Ā
Genie has some special tools in its backpack: the Latent Action Model, Video Tokenizer, and Dynamics Model. These help it understand and create the game.
Right now, Genie is just for the smart folks at Google to play with, so we can't try it out ourselves yet. And it's still learning, so the games it makes move a little slow, like one frame per second slow.
