An AI chatbot that can negotiate your bills

DoNotPay, the company that bills itself as “the world’s first robot lawyer,” is launching a new AI-powered chatbot that can help you negotiate bills and cancel subscriptions without having to deal with customer service.

In a demo shown by the CEO of DoNotPay, the chatbot manages to get a discount on a Comcast internet bill through Xfinity’s live chat. Once it connects with a customer service representative, the bot asks for a better rate using account details provided by the customer. The chatbot cites problems with Xfinity’s services and threatens to take legal action, to which the representative responds by offering to take $10 off the customer’s monthly internet bill.

Google won’t launch ChatGPT rival because of ‘reputational risk’

last week sent a newsletter where the founder of Gmail said AI will destroy google search in 3 years but today the CEO of Alphabet Sundar Pichai and Google’s head of AI Jeff Dean addressed the rise of ChatGPT in a recent all-hand meeting. An employee asked if the launch of the bot — built by OpenAI, a company with deep ties to Google rival Microsoft — represented a “missed opportunity” for the search giant. Pichai and Dean reportedly responded by saying that Google’s AI language models are just as capable as OpenAI’s, but that the company had to move “more conservatively than a small startup” because of the “reputational risk” posed by the technology.

this is an interesting one as I’ve had conversations with tech heads about ChatGPT and some have stated they found themselves searching for information via ChatGPT instead of going to google.

One Main thing to note here is that Google Assistant can do the majority of what ChatGPT can do search-wise, the only issue is giving precise answers, so maybe Google might be working on something like that lowkey, well who knows??

But all I can say is I'm here for the Search wars!

On OpenAI’s side, it seems like they are trying to avoid the comparisons and lower expectations

CEO Sam Altman recently tweeted: “ChatGPT is incredibly limited but good enough at some things to create a misleading impression of greatness. it’s a mistake to be relying on it for anything important right now. it’s a preview of progress; we have lots of work to do on robustness and truthfulness.”

OpenAI is developing a watermark to identify work from its GPT text AI

OpenAI is working on a tool to watermark AI-generated text to prevent misuse. The watermark uses a cryptographic pseudorandom function to add an unnoticeable signal to the text.

Look crypto bros, CRYPTOgraphy lets spam Twitter with this as a Use case (sarcasm)

In basic terms: Open AI is adding a watermark to text generated from GPT, so it's easier to spot AI-generated works.

The watermark-like security feature could help teachers and academics spot students who are using text generators such as OpenAI’s GPT to write essays for them, but cryptography experts say workarounds will inevitably be found.

But on a more serious note, it's inevitable that a workaround will be created, this one should also be a nice battle between AI developers and People who want to use uncredited work ( I think they are called pirates??? i don’t know).
